JANA WEIS | PRINCIPAL, BA, Dip Com, CPC

Jana is a renowned compliance coding professional with a bent for ingenuity and innovation. Her pursuit of leading technological health care solutions in addition to her 20+ years of experience in medical coding and compliance led her to form Gill Compliance Solutions (GCS) in 2010.  Her expertise in health care consulting leads physicians and hospitals, regionally and nationally, through the complex world of compliance to accurately report and monitor coding compliance practices. Along with her team, Jana also assists health systems and providers with internal compliance strategies and workflow, government payment audits and appeals, RAC assessments, and on-boarding due diligence.

Jana was a Rotary International Scholar, is a national speaker for chapters of the MGMA, AAPC and Wolters Kluwer, and has been CPC certified as a Professional Coder since 1998. As a leader in the field, she is also passionate about compliance education. Jana has been a Professional Medical Coding Curriculum Approved Instructor since 1999 and continues to provide AAPC approved educational seminars. She participates as an active board member with Mediregs, a past editorial board member of RAC Monitor and regularly contributes to multiple health care newsletters and publications, including the RAC Monitor, CCH & MediRegs Coding Compliance Advisor Newsletter and blog. Jana proudly supports her community through youth Learning Services projects, local charity fundraisers, and volunteering Land Trust of the Treasure Valley, Ridges to Rivers, and several others organizations focused on sustainability.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, teaching pilates, and cooking.

Nicole Benson | Audit Manager, BA, CPC CPMA, COSC

Nicole Benson has over 20 years of combined healthcare experience with a widespread background in practice management, professional and ASC billing, coding, auditing, and instructing on a clinical and administrative level.  Her skills and knowledge cover an assortment of specialties including: Orthopedics, Endoscopy, Neurology, General and Vascular Surgery, Urology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, ENT, and Radiology. As a previous medical assistant and coding instructor she is well versed in providing education that infuses regulatory guidelines with medical experience, and now works through the Northwest region with physicians and medical staff to train on documentation compliance.

In the fall of 2014, she returned to academia at Boise State University earning a Bachelor’s degree in May 2017 with focused studies in management, communication, and dispute resolution.  She was also accepted into the Communication Master’s program at Boise State University and started in the Fall of 2017.

Nicole enjoys many hobbies and volunteer work when not immersed in studies including, camping, hiking, biking, music, crafts, reading, gardening and sharing time with her son.

Dr. Jason Sloan | Anesthesiology | Consulting Physician

Dr. Sloan earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa. He subsequently completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of California San Francisco. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has worked for the past 18 years as an Attending Anesthesiologist at Affiliates of Sutter Health in the San Fransisco Bay Area including Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and Novato Community Hospital. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Sloan has served as both Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia as well as Medical Director for Obstetric Anesthesia.

He spends his free time with his wife Lara running, biking, and skiing.

DR. ERIC STERN | Internal medicine Pulmonology Critical Care | MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Stern earned his medical degree from Stanford University. He went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington and followed this with a pulmonary critical care fellowship at the University of Chicago. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. Currently he works as a pulmonary critical care physician at Community Medical Center in Missoula, MT where he serves as director of respiratory services and chair of the medicine department. In addition to his clinical work, he plays an active role in quality improvement in relation to both patient care and electronic medical records. Dr. Stern provides oversight for the GCS Wellness Program along with participating in complex medical reviews aside our talented audit team. 

He spends his free time with his wife Cori and daughter Sophie enjoying Missoula's active outdoor lifestyle.

 

LISA MACKENZIE | HR AND CLIENT RELATIONS MANAGER, BA, MHS

Lisa brings to the team a strong health care ethic, with a Master of Health Science Leadership (MHS) from Boise State University and a BA in Exercise Science from Willamette University. Her background in health & wellness along with public relations makes her an invaluable resource to GCS client matters. Her wide variety of health care-driven experience in addition to a strong knowledge in business development, sales and entrepreneurship, promoted Lisa as a lead project manager for the innovation arm of Gill Compliance Solutions.

A Boise native, Lisa enjoys the many recreational opportunities of the Treasure Valley and is an active community participant including, Habitat for Humanity, Give Hope for Life, and Create for Common Good.
